List of "Post Interview Advice" from a fellow blogger site.

I saw a post on LaidOffInNYC Blog titled : Post Interview: the aftermath and on that post was a list of items from another website which I’m including here:

Best-Interview-Strategies.com has some great post-interview advice (especially #3):

POST-INTERVIEW STRATEGY #1: Immediately send a Thank-You Letter.

POST-INTERVIEW STRATEGY #2: Don’t be shy about making follow-up calls.

POST-INTERVIEW STRATEGY #3: Don’t worry, be happy

POST-INTERVIEW STRATEGY #4: Negotiate your salary when you are offered the job.

POST-INTERVIEW STRATEGY #5: If you got the job, go celebrate! If you didn’t, don’t despair, just start again.

Having had four interviews in January, I’ve been down to #3 a lot, skipped #4, and went to the end of #5.

I know if I’m being considered for the positions even through recruiters, I’m one of a small group of candidates to make it to that point. I do follow up after the interview, and one of the good things about the recruiters is that I do get some feedback from them regarding my interview, so I know how to prepare best for the next one.

Hopefully this new week will turn up something great. I did get a call yesterday from a recruiter, and do have another interview scheduled for late next week. I’m also scheduling some time for network meetings next week and don’t want to overbook myself either.

I have Google alerts set to email me when something comes up with ‘martinpiraino’ without the space, pretty cool to see where your information is being seen/used, and since my twitter name is my first and last name like that, it’s come up quite often lately.

I also have an alert for “Martin Piraino” and a couple of other variations, and get at least one or two emails a day lately.

I found myself quoted on another blog – regarding a tweet I answered about avatars on Twitter, should it be a picture or logo? My take on it was to have picture unless it is a company, then logo is ok.

The post in it’s entirety is located here: Twitter Avatars – Photo vs. Logo

Pretty interesting to have my opinion counted in this and to find it on Google.

My little piece of it is noted below:

MartinPiraino I prefer to see a picture not a logo, unless it is a business, then logo is ok.

I guess in some ways the quotes I come across, and people I'm meeting who have been an encouragement during this time for me, are all positive, as this quote is for me.

Bill Austin passed that qoute along on Twitter yesterday, thanks @wbaustin!

I guess in some ways the quotes I come across, and people I’m meeting who have been an encouragement during this time for me, are all positive, as this quote is for me.

I know Bill personally and I’ve talked with him on a few occasions, most recently was about my blogging effort this past Tuesday after the Scottsdale Job Nework meeting. I had set up but not started the blog here, but knew I just needed to jump in head first to get started. This is a whole new world to me, and one which I will continue to explore and expand upon.

I have been following up on leads, and today is going to be another busy day for me.

I came across that qoute on a friend of a friend’s profile on Facebook, my connection on Facebook is Israel Class and his friends name is Jason Matthew Herrington

I met Israel at a meeting at SJN a couple of months ago and have exchanged a few emails with him about my job search, and he connected me with some recruiters I’ve now built relationships with in hopes of landing a new job.

I never spoke with Jason, but his tag on facebook profile is currently “will do whatever it takes!!”

The other quotes on his profile are also a bit profound, but this one in particular caught my attention. I know with social media and the internet, it is about creating yourself, getting yourself noticed, creating a brand, being in the right place at the right time, and building that network of support through a variety of channels.
